An unexpected consequence of our previous article outlining our design for the power plant at the new site here in Botswana has been alacratas, being engaged to design and implement large, grid connected versions in Angola as well as smaller systems for ‘new towns’ to be constructed nationwide.
The new towns will comprise in total 1 million homes and associated support facilities such health care, education and all the other amenities one would associate with any town. Each one would comprise of approximately 5,ooo homes.
These new towns would therefore be self-sufficient in terms of power generation and supply and each home / utility building would also incorporate the heat pump solution for central heating in winter, hot water and aircon in summer – not bad for low cost housing housing for the poor….
We are, therefore, rightfully proud that such a solution should be thought worthy of a project of such obvious national importance.
The total investment to be made by Angola over the next four years is in the region of $60bn; the value to alacratas is around $6bn.
